2022/2023 Water Project
The City of Soldier is currently anticipating a bid date late Winter 2022 with construction beginning the Summer 2022. The project may take up to two years to be completed. The project includes a new water tower, a new water filtration system and building, looping the water lines on the North end of town, new water meters at all residences/businesses, a new second well and a new building for the original well at the playground. The estimated project is $2.6 million.
Future Wastewater Project
Sewer cleaning and televising has been completed. Sundquist Engineering has completed the project engineering report. Recommendations include replacing the liner of the 2nd cell with a synthetic liner, updating all equipment at the lagoon and reinstall the drainage tube. The City of Soldier anticipates addressing these projects in 2023. The estimated project is $400,000.
Active Grant Projects
CDBG Housing Grant – Qualifying residents applied for the opportunity to receive grant funding to make energy efficient improvements to their home.
USDA SEARCH Grant – Sewer cleaning and televising will be performed on the wastewater lines. A project engineering report will be gathered to plan for future projects on the wastewater system.
Completed Grant Projects
Gilchrist Foundation Mini Grant – Installed privacy fence on city lot, completed basketball court fencing and replaced all picnic table boards.
USDA Equipment Grant – Purchased a new lawnmower, trailer, snow plow and other essential tools and equipment with a 55%/45% grant match.
